My sister in law is stunning. She's almost 8 months pregnant and looks as fabulous as always. I've taken so many pictures of different major events in her life. Baptism, engagement, wedding and now maternity. I can't wait to get my hands on little Hadley once she's born, hope she doesn't get sick of my camera!

The night before school started I could hardly sleep! I was all giddy and excited for my kiddos to see their new friends and get back into some sort of routine! I love that my daughter still lets me pick her first day of school outfit...I know that won't be happening much longer. I love this photo for SO many reasons, it is just so her. We LOVE shooting bridals, it's one of our favorite things to shoot. There's just something magical, lovely and fresh about a bride to be. Kristi was certainly no exception to that. After we took our kids for fair photos we had another family ask for them. We had so much fun doing photos there. With 3 kids under 4 we knew we were in for a challenge, but the kiddos were champs! We were able to get some really great pictures of an amazing family!

We have really been wanting to take some pictures of our own kiddos together. As soon as I realized the fair was in town I just knew we had to do it there! Anne and I are secretly hoping our oldest two kids get married so we will be connected forever...=) The kids had a great time riding rides, eating cotton candy and watching the rodeo. It was an added bonus that we were able to get some really great photos!

My daughter is OBSESSED with horses. She has a horse room and since we live in Texas we see alot of horses anytime we drive anywhere. She has convinced me that when she is 16 she doesn't want a car, she wants a horse...or an RV. There is a horse ranch down the street from us and the horses are SO friendly. We were able to stop and get some great photos. I blew this one up big on canvas and it is hanging in her room, one of my favorite pictures to date! This week over at I Heart Faces it's all about the boys in our life! I love seeing my boys with their friends and watching them play. My best friend also has two boys and we do everything together, I treat her boys as if they were my own. I have always LOVED this photo. Nothing about this photo was posed...I just turned and told them to flex and they fell into place! It's kind of an evolution of man meets Rocky kind of photo...it just makes me smile every time I see it!

There's something I always love about a close up shot, the emotion, the clarity, the detail. But, there is also something pretty fabulous about a shot from a distance. It's more about location and the bigger picture. This is one of my very favorite photos ever. I took bridals of my stunning sister in law and I nearly died when I found this location. There is something about the soft feminine look of her and the dress mixed with this big machine that just gets me every time. If I could go back to this place over and over I would. When I saw this week's theme I wasn't quite sure which picture to use. When I was reading the description it said there had to be yellow, because they love how happy yellow makes them feel. I love this picture of my daughter. I used more of a golden yellow from the sunshine and let's face it...you just HAVE to smile when you see her here! When I saw the theme for this week I knew I could interpret it different ways. My mind kept coming back to this photo. We recently did a shoot with FIFTEEN little girls aged 2-6. It was crazy and wonderful all at once. They were all wearing amazingly soft and brightly colored tutu's, and let's face it...nothing is sweeter than a bunch of little girls! It's one of my favorite weeks over at I heart faces...pet week! We have the best doggie ever. You can argue it, but it's true. Some of you may know that our Tank was hit by a car a couple of years ago, the doctor said it was a miracle that he even survived. That's when he came to live with us, I think he hung on to protect my kids, he NEVER leaves their side. He protects them all the time, which makes up for the time he decided to eat an entire box of Nutri-Grain bars...wrapper and all. Here he is with my Blake, they are the best of buds...this one is totally going on my wall.

One of the major perks of living in Texas is being able to go to the Rodeo. My brother in law competes in it so it is always so fun to have the whole family out there to enjoy the show. The theme this week at I heart faces is slice of life. They want something that is real life and candid. I can clearly remember this i moment my brother in law came out into the center and our family went nuts...his neighbor (who may just be the CUTEST cowboy ever) was SO focused on just watching him. No reaction... just stone cold Stockton. That is why this is one of my favorite pictures, this is our family- wild, crazy and TEXAS baby! Check out some more real life moments at I heart faces!

I recently had the opportunity to take bridal photos of my GORGEOUS sister in law. We used this picture as a large canvas in the entry of her reception and it was perfect. I must admit, our blog has been a little neglected. I have been good about adding pictures to our facebook page, but our blog has been getting no love. So, in an effort to show no favoritism to our facebook page I am trying to get caught up. I will be posting photos from sessions we did a couple months ago along with current projects. One of the perks of being a photographer is personal birthday photo shoots for our kids. We are now setup with some fabulous lighting equipment and backdrops for indoor shoots. We have also acquired some FABULOUS new props...we are giddy about them! Sydney was great to photograph, she has now hit double digits...happy 10th birthday Sydney!

It never snows in Texas! However, the weather cooperated just in time for challenge...hooray! Sydney is always the perfect model, and this was certainly no exception. I always hate being cold, but this hood seems to make me want to bundle up and run out in the snow! My husband comes from a family of SIX boys. Yup, six boys in 9 years. How I would love to go back in time and be a fly on the wall when they were growing up! Five of them are married and the last one is getting married in March. They asked me to do their engagement photos and I jumped at the chance- my new sister in law is seriously photogenic. They were both completely natural and the whole shoot was one of my favorites to date. They are so in love and it shows from all the photos. This photo though I captured at a moment that they weren't prepared for, we were laughing at something. I love her amazing smile and his subtle smile...one of my favorite pictures, ever! I am a serious animal lover. I love dogs most of all. This summer we went on a family vacation to Colorado. I took my daughter horseback riding in the mountains and when we were done I couldn't help but notice this little guy. His name was Brian. He was rescued by the grounds worker at the horse ranch. They had been together and travelled the country for over 12 years and you could tell the two of them were best buds. He had such soul in his eyes and I couldn't help but smile when I saw him...I think you will too. Check out all the other fabulous pets over at I Heart Faces!

Big Brother

Usually when we do a newborn session, the baby is the only star of the shoot. However, Mr. M has an 8 year old brother who joined him on his shoot and he rocked it! Big brother was SO sweet with his new little brother which allowed us to get some great shots. Mr. M has a grandmother visiting from Italy who insists on hanging all his clothes out to dry...we couldn't resist snapping a shot! Thanks for a fabulous time and some amazing photos!

We photographed the H Family last year and got alot of compliments from their session! They were the adorable family with the church pew and the chandelier in the middle of the woods. The kids were SO cooperative and would giggle at the drop of a hat. We are loving how the photos turned out this time!

People here in Texas make fun of the way I say a few words. I am originally from back east so the most picked on words are words like tournament, forehead and ORANGE. Sometimes I even dread saying the word here because I know I'll get a reaction. In Texas they say OR ange. I say it OUR ange. But, no matter how you say it the color is fabulous! It's always fun when you get to photograph a family a year later. Families that come back is the best compliment we can get! We have never photographed a family that was as easy as this. We would walk to a certain spot and they would get into the most natural formations. We didn't have to pose them or set them up. It was as they had been doing this for years! We ended up with some really great natural photos for a fabulous family!

Finally our Christmas Cards are up! We are excited to share this new collection with you. Here is how it works. You can combine any two cards in any possible combination. One will be your front and one will be the back! Just make sure you give us the picture numbers you want inserted (keep in mind if it tolerates a vertical or horizontal picture) into the card, along with the letters of each card, and what will be front or back! Happy Looking.

Price of digital Christmas card on CD with your picture inserted is $25. Then you can print them anywhere you choose for any price. They are all defaulted as 5x7 cards. If you are going to print at Costco let us know as we will need to change the size a bit bigger.

Baby Evan

We never know what we are going to get when we walk into a newborn session. Mr. Evan did not want to cooperate for a solid hour. He was cranky and a serious grunter. We thought we were going to leave with not a decent shot. Then, the heavens parted and Evan zonked out. We went crazy snapping away, he was SO tired. Once he settled he was a DREAM and we were able to pose him just about any way we wanted!

We had a fabulous time with the P Family the other night! The boys were cooperative, but seemed to need a little time to be silly as well...we got quite a few photos of crossed eyes and tongues sticking out. Miss Sadie was a well trained little model, every time we pointed the camera at her we would get an instant "Cheese!". The blue eyes in this family were amazing! We got some pretty great shots of this adorable family!

Newborn shoots are always so much fun and this time it was doubled! M and R were the sweetest boys! They slept when we needed them to and at the same time! Of course we had to get a Rangers photo since Dad is a big fan! We were also able to get some photos of their adorable big sister, she was hammin' it up big time! Enjoy!

In honor of breast cancer awareness it's pink week at I heart faces! Anyone who knows me well knows that I LOVE pink. Maybe it's because I finally got a girl after having two boys and was pink deprived for so long. So, I decided to feature none other than...me! I never put my own picture in these contests, but I figured I'd change it up a little. I was trying to think of what I could do and then I remembered the bag of candy from the parade we went to last week. Tonight we had a shoot with three handsome guys! It was great seeing all their personalties. One did everything just as I instructed, one didn't know whether to giggle or have a serious face and the other one had his pants covered in mud after the first 15 minutes. In the beginning Miss S seemed like she was going to be a hard one to photograph. We basically started out the session with photos like this:

However, after some Barbie talking, promises of candy necklaces and a VERY humorous dance by Anne we had her laughing in no time! What a sweetie she was, we had so much fun with Miss S and her sassy Mom!

First of all, is Colston not one of the coolest names ever? One of my dear friends contacted me and asked me to take photos of her new little man. He's already three weeks old and those sessions tend to be harder. However, after the first hour he was all settled and he let us pose him to our heart's content! The theme this week over at I heart faces is chalk. I knew I wanted to do something a little different than just one of my kids playing with chalk, so here is what I came up with. Here's my take of my three little monkeys with "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". Yes, they are not monkeys, but they sure look cute with their chalky body parts! Yesterday we went shopping. It was some fun and serious shopping. We scored some new amazing items for our photo shoots and now it's contest time for you! We will have a different casting call every week so we can try out all of our new things! Last week we scored this vintage chair...and it's only the beginning!

Here is all the info you will need to know to get photos of you little cutie!

This weeks casting call is for little girls! We need your babies, there are only two requirements. One, they must be able to sit up on their own and two they need to be 18 months or younger. Think you qualify or have a friend who does? Then keep reading, here's what to do!

1. Upload your photo to our fan photo section on facebook. Not a fan yet? No problem, just click here. ANY old photo will do, just so we have something for people to vote on. Only one photo per child.

2. Send your friends over to vote for your photo. They must like our page and put a comment under your photo, not on the wall. Everyone can vote ONCE per day, voting will last one week.

3. Whoever has the most votes will win! What will you win? You get a mini session with us for free! We will be trying out all our new goodies! You will also get a CD with 5-10 edited high resolution photos and your cutie will be featured on our facebook page and website!

Back to School Mini Sessions!

Okay everyone. Since we had such a fun time photographing Ms. Kali for her back to school photos, we've decided to offer Back to School mini sessions! This is a great opportunity to get your child's back to school photo in a less awkward setup than the school offers. You're probably used to seeing something like this-

Are we right? The same ugly 80's background with a shot of your child's shirt and hair that you have no control over. Plus, they charge you an arm and a leg to get the same pose in 17 sizes. Well, we have come up with your solution. Are you ready for something like this?

Creatively Chic School Photo Mini Sessions:

When: September 17 in Denton area

September 18 in Mckinney area

Time: 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Let me begin by saying I despise silly bands. I swore I would never buy them for my children even when they begged me endlessly for them. Then a stroke of genius hit me. I thought I would make them a deal that they certainly couldn't come through on. That way I was still a totally awesome Mom without having to actually buy them the circulation ender bands. I told my seven year old Blake if he hit a home run that night then I would buy all three of my kids silly bands. DEAL! They were all so excited. Keep in mind, the furthest my son had ever hit the ball was enough to produce a double. We were in the quarterfinals of the championship bracket and we were playing a really good team. I thought I was totally covered. Wrong. The score was tied and it was Blake's last turn to bat. He is a lefty and he NAILED that ball to right field. This ball flew like it had grew wings and just kept going. He rounded first, then second, then third...I couldn't even believe it! There was my seven year old slugger crossing home plate...a HOME RUN! This is one of my favorite photos. EVER. I don't know how I managed to even get it I was shaking and screaming with excitement. He had won the game with his home run and earned silly bands for him and his siblings. He later told me as he was rounding third the only think he was thinking was, "Silly bands, here I come!" I learned my lesson. Set goals really high for my children and they will probably surprise me! Oh and never ever ever underestimate the power of a silly band. Remember the adorable newborn twins we took photos of 6 months ago? If you don't they're splashed all over our website! Yesterday we had the privilege of taking photos of T and D after they were sealed for time and all eternity. They made such a beautiful couple and made it look like we were enjoying 70 degree weather! It was SO hot yesterday, but we were able to get some great pictures. Ok, I may be impartial but I think I have the best looking nephew around. It's hard to believe he is actually a senior this year. I've watched him grow up into a genuinely nice guy. I can only hope my sons will turn out as fabulous as he did. Cody brought his girlfriend along so we got some pictures of the two of them...seriously photogenic! Who doesn't love a good surprise? I absolutely love being surprised...and not with a surprise like-Surprise! Here's a bill you weren't expecting this month. One of my son's best friends is sadly moving away. So, when his Mom asked me to take their pictures before they left I was so excited! I have been so eager to take their photos and once you see the eyes on these two, you'll know why. We are so sad to see them go, but we know we have made lifelong friends! I must say I had a blast on the photo shoot I went on the other night. I had taken newborn pictures for the W Family and now their baby is one! This is the THIRD time we had rescheduled due to Mother Nature's sense of humor. We finally got a night with no rain and it was perfect! We were trying to get Ms. S to sit without crawling away and her family knew just the trick! Mom and Dad and big sisters stood behind me singing, "Say it like you mean it" and that was it! It was so cute and funny to have a chorus behind me...but it sure made for some fabulous photos! These three girls are absolutely stunning...they seriously knew how to work the camera. When they walked up in their perfectly coordinating outfits I just about died. Thanks for a fun night...finally!

Purple was my favorite color when I was little. My daughter is just as mush a fan as I was. This is her favorite bracelet...the best part? My friend Angie asked me if I would take some ten year old photos of her son Landon...no problem! I am usually taking pictures of her other son Cal who is 5 months. I have been doing his every month since he was born. It was nice to finally take some photos of L-train ( my nickname for him). I had the kids with me and we just ran into town. We found some great places. We found an old truck they had transformed into a shelf at on an old garage. Who cares if I got stung by bees (and I'm allergic) no biggie...anything for a good photo.

And...one for the cutie Cal for good measure...couldn't you just eat him up???

I'm so giddy I can hardly stand it! I found this fabulous new company called Photo Flavors who make fabulous actions and textures for photographers. There was a contest that I entered and I just found out...I won! Yeah!! I entered a few photos for them to use on their before and after and they picked smiling Gavin the newborn as the winner. Imagine my surprise when I saw they used several other photos to showcase on their website as well! I am constantly amazed by Tank. He is truly the best dog I have ever known. He was hit by a car going 50 mph almost two years ago. The truck just drove off and left him. LEFT HIM. The vet says it was a miracle he survived, he had rods going through his body and we knew it would be a long recovery. He was my brother's dog, but he needed a more permanent home with a loving family. I said yes, we would take care of him. However, it seems more like he is taking care of US. He sleeps in my daughter's room and doesn't leave her side. When she goes outside to play, he stays right by HER, watching her every move. He is getting old. My daughter adores him and I don't know how much longer he will be with us. That is why I absolutely adore moments like this one. Not many boys would play tea party on a hot June day. The {C} Family-Sneak Peek

On friday we had the opportunity to photograph a great family. It was so easy...almost too easy. The kids were completely cooperative, well behaved and very photogenic! The dad was reminding the kids about a funny story that happened on a recent trip and that REALLY got the kids laughing. In our talking I found out that he actually grew up with my husband's family..what a small world! Thanks C family for making things so easy and fun...enjoy!

Meet Gavin! Anne recently had a sweet baby boy and we were both anxious to take his pictures. We knew we could try just about anything with him. I was planning on taking photos at the birth and hospital, but little Gavin came SO quickly and without any warning that I couldn't make it. They even got pulled over on the way to the hospital they were in such a rush. Gavin was 3 weeks old before we could find a time to meet for pictures. We were a little nervous as the ideal time to take pictures is before they are 10 days old. He must have come to earth prepared to be a photographer's child! We have never had such a sleepy, calm and happy newborn before. We couldn't believe it when we got the biggest smile out of him! I would love to know just what he was dreaming about...enjoy the photos of the newest little guy!

This week at i heart faces it's all about teens. I loved being a teenager, I had a fabulous high school experience. When I think of teens I think of fun, fresh, lively and energetic. Dallas Photo Walk-Winna!!

By now I am sure you have all figured out that I am a huge fan of I heart faces. They push me to try new things creatively and I have loved meeting other photographers and getting feedback from them. When they announced they would be doing a photo walk in Dallas I was SO excited! We had a fabulous group of super fun people. The best part? Our photo leaders were Amy (one of the co-founders of I heart faces) and Jenny.
Here we are at the start of our walk-it was SO hot, but it didn't matter. Everyone was in a great mood!

I finally got to meet Amy and she is just as fabulous as I knew she would be! I hope she doesn't consider me too stalkerish...if you ever need fabulous digital printables her graphic design skills are sick!

I got to meet alot of other great photographers. I instantly clicked with Amanda, she was so fun and we have so much in common.

Oh yeah, I even took some photos while I was there! We had these three adorable models who totally hammed it up for the camera:

After the photo walk everyone could submit three of their favorite photos. They picked one winning photo from each walk-imagine my sheer joy when I saw they had picked mine! Not only did it make my day...I got a $50.00 gift certificate to Blurb...score! I snapped this moment of one of our models with her Dad. What a sweet moment between the two of them.

Hopefully they'll be doing another photo walk soon...hint, hint Amy. Or maybe we can find another excuse to hang out again?

Yellow. I love yellow. Whenever my mom finds a shirt in yellow, she almost gets giddy. When I think of yellow I think of happiness, smiling, sunshine and of course the song Mellow Yellow which I can't seem to get out of my head right now...excuse the ramblings. I had no idea which photo I was going to use because as much as I like yellow, I don't tend to really have anything yellow. I was up at the kids school on Friday for field day and I was hit by a sea of yellow shirts. The moment I snapped this I just KNEW this would be the one. I knew instantly what photo I would use this week. I have tons of great photos of kids with their mom, but this photo is so personal to me and I just love it. Meet Grandma. She is actually my husband's grandmother, so my kid's great grandmother. She is fabulous. We have alot of family who live around us, but it always seems hard to get everyone together. In April she celebrated her 89th birthday and we all went to see her. Grandma is the heart and soul of our family. She has 3 children, 15 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren (and counting). My kids adore her, they love going to see her. We all made cards for her birthday and she had just finished reading my son's card when I snapped this. This photo to me is priceless. What a fun photo shoot I had with the T family today! Stephanie has been so excited to get their pictures taken and I couldn't wait to do it! It seemed to be the hottest day we've had yet here! With a 7 year old and a two and one year old I knew they would have lots of energy! I was amazed at well Cade (the 7 year old) did. Senior Shoot

Yesterday I had the best photo shoot with Bobob and his whole crew. Since the majority of photos we take are newborns and families it was a nice break to say, "do this" and it was done. He is quite the decorated athlete and an amazing track star. Displaying his 64 medals was easier than I thought! We found some great tracks and the very moment we sat a train came by, with one of his school colors-what luck! It was an easy and fun shoot, thanks! So here's your sneak peek...enjoy!

Okay you may all think I am a total dork, but I love watching America's Next Top Model (ANTM for all you true fans). One thing Tyra always stresses is smising...that is smiling with the eyes. In this shot I think I achieved not only smising, but a true genuine smile from Ms. Larissa. This was the first image I pulled off my camera and I nearly died. The lighting, the eyes so expressive, the color...her Mom was over the moon about this one. So it was no question which photo I would put on here. I think Tyra would be proud. This week it's collage week! I don't do tons of collages, but for this particular set of photos that I L.O.V.E. I thought it would be easier to print them as a collage. This was an impromptu photo shoot of my kiddos. I was driving through town and saw three photo booths...it was like they were made for me and my three kids...I never see phone booths like this anymore. To top it all of Jodi (yikes) is the guest judge. She is one of my favorite! I read her blog religiously so if nothing else, she can take a peek at my photos. deep in the heart of Texas! (You are totally singing that now, aren't you?) Bluebonnet time only lasts here for a couple of weeks, but it is sheer beauty. One of my friends is leaving the great state of Texas (who would want to do that?) I can't fault her as she is moving to be near family.
